Song: Prodigy - Diesel Power (Dirtchamber remix)

Some basic stand-up grappling shit. I decided to do this after working on the How to spot a Trained Fighter thing.

- The single leg variation with your head on the opponent's midsection is nicknamed by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as "The Lewinsky"

- Much of these moves are a little exaggerated for flashy effect but also to make it easier to see what is happening.

- A couple of pro wrestling moves shown here may be a little iffy in terms of effectiveness, but regardless, are quite dangerous if you're slamming some asshole into something like say...concrete.

- Now I'm not a fan of pro wrestling, but I will say this: Pro Wrestling may be staged for your entertainment, but it is not "fake." Those guys are physically trained to take all those slams and they'd better not fuck up. The real challenge they face is NOT injuring each other, and that takes skill.

Quite impressive collection, and easy to interpret unlike some other tutorials I've seen. I really like the Judo/Aikido moves :D

Are you certain it's a good idea to give out dangerous martial arts techniques over the internet, without any way of moderating how a viewer will use that information?
I'm just saying because I've witnessed what happens when someone attempts a technique they're not ready for. Basically, an inexperienced instructor thought that a young lady was ready to start using the Escrima, and the next thing we knew, she had blown a guys kneecap right out of his leg (accidentally, of course).

In regard to "shooting," you need to apply lift, especially in a single leg takedown. You're not just driving forward, but also up, and I don't think the 3 step drawing for each variation really emphasized that.

Just a little nit pick from someone whose only done wrestling at a hobby level. I'm sure there are far more knowledgeable people that could comment.

when you shoot its important to keep head up and use your back foot pushing off your toes to lift through, id ont wrestle but id brazillian jiu jitsu n the shoot is nicked from wrestling. i do love the vid though

Oh. Interesting.

That sounds like it'd be too subtle a difference if I were to change it, though. Unless you got any ideas on how to draw the steps differently.

Other than changing the movement arrows, no. I might have more ideas after this week. Still finishing up some finals, and apartment hunting.

Oh, and tangentally I love the weird punching regulations in MMA where you can't hit someone in the back of the head, which makes every faggot wrestler drop his head and bull charge when he takes a good one to the chops. If they want to stilt everything toward the wrestler, they should at least cut the crotches out of their shorts so they can fuck while they're doing it.

It's also weird that you can't do elbow strikes coming straight down on someone. There's like..certain degrees where it's acceptable. But then I heard that horizontal elbow strikes are more dangerous, so then that rule is just useless.

Gotta keep the fight safe so nobody dies, which completely defies the no-rules roots of the sport. But this is why I like boxing so much more, there's rules and regulations out the ass, but it's not pretending to be a real fight.

The logistics everybody spews about MMA and how it would work in a real fight will always fall flat, because I was trained to eye-gouge by my father. And it has never ever failed me.

And honestly the least MMA can do is not outlaw headbutting. Or they may as well make a new bunch of rules that require tying the fighters arms down so they can only kick and headbutt, haha.

What about muay thai kick boxing?

I like muay thai a lot because it's so fucking hardcore, except the part where lots of the fighters lose the ability to walk, due to massive damage to their connective tissues over their years of training. Seems like a shitty tradeoff to me.

But no doubt, some of the best fighters if only for their retarded ability to deal with pain. I'd say it's a real fighting art because there's so little impracticality about it, and it covers the whole gamut as far as a striking match is concerned.

I was actually raised learning Taekwondo, which is a pretty much a giant white-people-specific martial art now. But if the mobility Taekwondo gives you was mixed more thoroughly with the hapkido they teach on the side for grappling, and a more thorough boxing styled moveset, (BECAUSE YOUR LEGS ARE NATURALLY SLOWER THAN YOUR HANDS) you'd have a retardedly efficient martial art. But leave it to the Koreans to design a karate specifically for knocking dudes off of horses and never modify it for use with a variety of foreign combatants.

But I guess that's every kind of martial art, they can all handle untrained baboons, but their delicate asian sensibilities refused to adapt to foreign combatants for the sheer sake of tradition.

Yes, I agree that Muay Thai is the best for striking and even some grappling with the muay thai clinch.

Taekwondo, hapkido and boxing eh? So it sounds like you're more into mixing together martial arts in concept but not so much for use in a sport.

Yeah... I'm kinda all about killing.

And the dumb thing is, that they don't need to be "mixed" at all. Just combined exactly how they are. There's really no technical overlap if you think about it... with the exception of stances. But changing of stances is easily done on the fly, and sticking to one stance telegraphs your intention to your opponent anyway. Change it up for christ's sake.

But I tell ya, If someone wants to "wrassle" me into "submission", I'll poke their fucking eyes out at the drop of a hat. So they'd better wear safety goggles I fucking swear. Wrestling is so goddamn dumb in the grand scheme of things, the only reason it has purveyed at all is because eye gouging and nose biting has always been 'frowned upon'. But I'm serious, it makes me angry when someone thinks it's going to do them any good in a fight. "The only reason it will work for you is because the rules in place favor you. I'm not a team player, by the way."

When you fight, you bash each other's heads in, then get drunk and move on. You don't hump on the ground for an hour. Wrestlers all get boners when they do it, I just goddamn know it.

If there's something beautiful to watch, it's when fighters are strong enough to do deadweight (as in, non assisted) German Suplexes on other dudes. Like in that one DREAM 8 match.

That's pretty much a fighter's way of saying "I fucked your wife". 'Course, they never look as smooth as video games would have us believe.

Man, I love these Martial Arts tutorials, makes me feel nostalgic.

As much as I prefer stand up, I should really learn some takedowns/submissions..

..Funny how I mainly use this for myself, rather than applying it to my OCs

Though I'll probably do that too
