Description

Drawing a pistol in detail:

Step 1: Go for your gun and un-clip the holster. If you got a hip holster under a shirt, lift up the shirt.

Step 2: After pulling out the gun, quickly rotate it so that it's pointed at your target. Can you start shooting at this point? Yes, if your target is pretty close.

Step 3: Bring your other hand to support the gun, while keeping it tight to your chest (in the case that some asshole tries to grab your gun) Can you start shooting here too? Yep.

Step 4: Extending your arms in a punching motion (known as 'punching out' your gun) Now you can aim properly.

Edit: chest holster added

Let me add some thoughts on the Calvary draw. Back in the day when the Calvary was using muzzleloader Guns, the Calvary used the saber. Of course knife and sword training was taught with the Right hand, thus the Calvary carried their swords on the left side. When the gun was added, the guns holster had to be on the right hip, but since it’s barrel was long it was cross draw, to be pulled from the holster with the riders left hand. When the Cap & Ball revolver came to be the handgun was still carried on the right hip, butt facing forward still cross draw. During the War of 1812 there was a Calvary unit called the Dragoon’s who carried a pair of heavy handguns mounted on the front of the horses saddle. These guns had the ability to attach a shoulder stock to the grip so they could be fired like a carbine is. The Dragoon’s continued well past 1848 and basically came to an end when Colt created the model 1860 44caliber muzzle loader revolver that could be given to all Calvary members.
